Welcome! We invite you to join us in our love for the American-made swing rockers, and become one of a small, but growing family of fanciers.  Mostly valued for it's "folk art" charm, the wooden rocking horses manufactured mainly by Whitney-Reed and Converse in the late 1800's and early to mid 1900's, are generally not purchased for restoration purposes. We found, however, that they can successfully be restored, allowing for more generations of enjoyment , while still retaining their antique appearance. This This is "Annie", a rocking horse purchased from FAO Schwarz in 1933 for a little boy's eighth birthday.  The child hung onto his beloved steed until last April, when, at the age of 81, he decided to let someone else enjoy her! We are in the process of restoring her as this site is being built.

This poor guy was in such poor condition that his head was broken off of his neck!  All of his paint was gone save for a few flakes here and there. His stand was very unstable and had to be repaired, but amazingly, his saddle was still intact enough to allow us to determine the colors that he had originally been adorned with. He is now the prized pony of a little girl who loves him dearly. ( He got his name from the champion barrel racing horse who donated his mane for this project )
